In this technology dominated world we have to consider what will happen to all of our online accounts and passwords at the time of our death. Many of us have created multiple email addresses, accounts on Facebook, LinkedIn and other online resources. We have online accounts for our credit card, banks, investments and life insurance. It can be cumbersome for each of us to keep track of our own accounts and all of the related passwords. Imagine how hard it will be for those who survive us, for our executors and trustees! There may be important information to be accessed, transactions to be made or websites you would like to be managed into the future.
I recently came accross the “Legacy Locker” which is touted on its website as a virtual safe deposit box for your online accounts and passwords. You are able to keep track of all of your own accounts and designate individuals who can receive the related information when you pass away. You can name different people as the “beneficiaries” of each of the websites and even have an email letter sent out to friends and family at the time of your death. Check out Legacy Locker by clicking the link above to see if it meets your needs.
