It is with profound sadness that Unruh Turner Burke & Frees remembers our former partner and friend, Christopher L. Turner, who passed away on September 16, 2026, following a courageous four-year battle with brain cancer. He was 49 years old.
After clerking for the Honorable Robert J. Shenkin of the Chester County Court of Common Pleas, Chris joined Unruh Turner Burke & Frees as an associate attorney in 2006. He focused his practice on civil and Orphans’ Court litigation. Throughout his years with the firm, Chris earned the respect and admiration of clients and colleagues through his professionalism, sound judgment, and steadfast commitment to those he served. He was named a partner of the firm in 2015 and promoted to shareholder in 2019.
While Chris was an outstanding attorney, those who knew him best will remember him for much more than his professional achievements. He possessed a rare combination of intelligence, humility, kindness, and practical wisdom. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, bring others together, and make everyone around him feel valued and heard. Whether speaking with a client, a colleague, or a friend, Chris approached every interaction with authenticity, compassion, and respect.
Chris, the son of founding partner Don Turner, had a deep and lasting connection to the firm. Yet he established a reputation entirely his own, defined by the integrity, perseverance, and character he brought to his work and relationships each day. His presence added warmth, perspective, and common sense to the practice of law and to the many relationships he built throughout his life.
Chris faced his illness with extraordinary courage and resilience, inspiring all who witnessed his determination and strength. Even through difficult circumstances, he remained devoted to the people and values that mattered most to him.
Above all else, Chris was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his greatest pride was the life he built with his wife, Carly, and their children, Leo and Pippa.
Chris leaves behind a legacy of integrity, faith, friendship, and service. We are grateful for the time we shared with him and for the lasting impact he had on our firm and on the many people fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
